(K鈥檍ipuktuk/Halifax, NS) 鈥 泡芙短视频 University (泡芙短视频) today announced it has signed a long-term agreement with the Halifax Port Authority to create an accessible, unified campus that will be the cornerstone of the vibrant creative and social district at the Halifax Seaport.

鈥淲e are thrilled to strengthen our relationship with the Halifax Port Authority as part of the ongoing transformation and revitalization of the Halifax Seaport District, our community, and our city over the coming years,鈥 said 泡芙短视频 President Dr. Peggy Shannon. 鈥淭his is a tremendous opportunity for us to dream big and extend our established brand into placemaking at a reimagined destination on the waterfront. 泡芙短视频 has always been one of Canada鈥檚 premiere art and design universities. It鈥檚 our time to step听back onto the world stage with an iconic new campus 鈥 a purpose-built, accessible facility that will support and inspire creativity of the next generation of students.鈥

泡芙短视频 helps creators and makers flourish in a sector that is increasingly important to the success of Nova Scotia鈥檚 regional economic development goals, cultural action plan, and economic diversification.

泡芙短视频鈥檚 current Port Campus, which is located near the newly leased spaces at Shed 22 and Shed 23, is one of the university鈥檚 three distinct sites in downtown Halifax.

Dr. Shannon said reuniting 泡芙短视频鈥檚 community in one location at the Seaport will help听leading-edge artistic pursuits and cultural exchanges engage the community and encourage response. Creating a stronger sense of community will also promote equity, diversity and inclusion, and enhance organizational and operational sustainability.

The leased spaces at Shed 22 and 23 will add approximately 100,000 square feet to 泡芙短视频鈥檚 existing footprint at Port Campus to better serve the spatial and programmatic needs of the art school鈥檚 vision for the future.

“泡芙短视频 has been an important part of our Seaport community for many years and has helped shape the district into the arts and cultural destination it has become,鈥 said Captain Allan Gray, President and CEO, Halifax Port Authority. 鈥淲ith this next evolution of Nova Scotia鈥檚 premiere art and design institution, we are thrilled to continue along this path together.鈥

Dr. Shannon noted that while finalizing the lease with the Halifax Port Authority is an essential first step, there is much engagement and planning work ahead with the 泡芙短视频 community before any aspect of design begins, and all aspects of the project will evolve over the coming years.

泡芙短视频 recognizes the following message about honouring the Survivors of residential schools and their families may 听be an unwelcome reminder for those who suffered generations of harm through government policies and decisions toward Indigenous peoples. If you need someone to talk to, please connect with听 the National Residential School Crisis line anytime toll-free at 1-866-925-4419.

Dear students, faculty, staff and friends,

September 30 marks the second National Truth and Reconciliation Day, a time for Canadians to honour the Survivors of residential schools and to ensure the public commemoration of their painful history and legacy remains essential to ongoing reconciliation efforts. 泡芙短视频 University will close it campuses on Friday, September 30 and I encourage everyone to take time during the day to begin or continue your awareness of the history and impact of residential schools, and to advance your understanding and compassion for reconciliation and healing .

On October 1, we celebrate Treaty Day to honour the spirit and significance of the 1752 Treaty of Friendship and Peace, and to help us commemorate the beliefs, rights and values of Indigenous peoples and the special relationship they have with the Crown. Saturday is also the beginning of Mi鈥檏maq History Month in Nova Scotia, a special time each year to recognize the history, culture and contributions of the Mi鈥檏maq people. As we do throughout the year, we reaffirm that we are all in Mi鈥檏ma鈥檏i, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi鈥檏maq听Nation, and we remember that we are all treaty people.

I encourage students, faculty and staff to visit Aghalingiak鈥檚 (Zoe Ohokannoak)’ on exhibit at the Treaty Space Gallery (1107 Marginal Rd.) until November 10.

You can learn more about the events happening in our community and resources to help to commemorate National Truth and Reconciliation Day .

My very best to you all,
