From Hamburg to the Caribbean – and once around the world: Heidi and Peter Wiedekamm have dreamed of what many dream. With their 14.5 m long sailboat Stormvogel they crossed the Atlantic and the Pacific, touring the blue planet within four years.

From initial inexperience to storms or menacing leaks on the boat, they learned their own limits. But the people and places they reached were wonderful remuneration for the hardships: cordial hospitality, dream beaches, helpfulness, or the laughter of the children who greeted the “skipper and the crew” joyfully in the small harbors.

In 2012, the couple started to travel from the Canaries to the Lesser Antilles. Through the Panama Canal via Galapagos Islands, they dared to cross the largest and deepest ocean in the world, the Pacific, to land on the beaches of Polynesia after weeks at sea, almost like the great explorers. But this was only one of the highlights of this extraordinary venture, which brought the two North Germans into the Mediterranean via New Zealand, Indonesia or Thailand and after 1500 days back to the port of Hamburg.

The experiences and experiences of the two travelers are to be observed in twelve chapters. Illustrated with countless brilliant photographs and films, spoken by Dr. Jochen Werner and acoustically co-ordinated by Ole Wiedekamm.

Sailors Arrive! Is a documentary about an extraordinary sailing trip, a richly illustrated report about the venture to leave your own boundaries behind and to get to know the world on a slow, slow down path. Sailors Arrive! Is a wonderful gift for both the leisure and the demanding sailing fan, the traveler and the world traveler.

Von Hamburg in die Karibik – und einmal um die Welt: Wovon viele träumen, haben Heidi und Peter Wiedekamm realisiert. Mit ihrem 14,5 m langen Segelboot Stormvogel überquerten sie Atlantik und Pazifik, bereisten innerhalb von vier Jahren den blauen Planeten.

Von anfänglicher Unerfahrenheit bis zu Stürmen oder bedrohlichen Lecks am Boot erfuhren sie ihre eigenen Grenzen. Aber die Menschen und Orte, die sie erreichten, waren wunderbare Entlohnung für die Strapazen: herzliche Gastfreundschaft, Traumstrände, Hilfsbereitschaft oder das Lachen der Kinder, die den „Skipper und die Mannschaft“ in den kleinen Häfen freudig begrüßten.

2012 startete das Ehepaar von Hamburg aus über die Kanaren zu den Kleinen Antillen. Durch den Panama-Kanal via Galapagos-Inseln wagten sie die Querung des größten und tiefsten Ozeans der Welt, des Pazifiks, um nach Wochen auf See an den Stränden Polynesiens zu landen – fast wie einst die großen Entdecker. Das war aber nur eines der Highlights dieser außergewöhnlichen Unternehmung, das die beiden Norddeutschen über Neuseeland, Indonesien oder Thailand schließlich ins Mittelmeer und nach 1500 Tagen zurück in den Hamburger Hafen brachte.

Die Erlebnisse und Erfahrungen der beiden Reisenden sind in zwölf Kapiteln nachzuerleben. Illustriert mit zahllosen brillanten Fotografien und Filmen, gesprochen von Dr. Jochen Werner und akustisch stimmungsvoll in Szene gesetzt von Ole Wiedekamm.

live in Indonesia. The huge country with thousands of islands will fascinate you every minute. Very well known is Bali, but its neighbour island Lombok with the Three Gilis offers also everything what tourists are looking for. Jump from island to island very cheap with local ferries.

kids with a lot of fun. Thats what you will remember if you are visiting the archipelago of Indonesia. Some simple English words makes conversation easy and kids happy: Where are you coming from? What is your name? Mister, Mister! Foto, Foto!

Ikaria Island

Wonderful

sailing yacht in crystal clear Greek waters at the harbour of Ikaria, a small island in the Aegean. The yacht is a Koopmans 48 sailing yacht made from aluminium with deck-house and centre board. Her Dutch name is Stormvogel – means something like “bird sailing in a storm”.

Deep Sea Fishing

Catch

a big fish on the Ocean. On passage from Cape Verde to Barbados with the power boat Southern Star (a NORDHAVN 48) it was easy to catch two or more huge fishes each day. The wonderful looking Dolphin fish is called Mahi Mahi and tastes very well.

Vanuatu

paradise islands in the Pacific. Several islands belongs to Vanuatu and each island provides unique spectacular attractions to people who like to see them. Sub-tropical jungle, palm trees and many traditional ceremonies. Awesome!
